The SASS Foundation Golf & Tennis Outing Raises Additional Funds for Cancer Research

On a magnificent day in early May, 65 Golfers and 35 Tennis Players teamed up at The Creek, in
Lattingtown, for a fun-filled day and evening with the goal of raising money for cancer research.
This wonderful event culminated with a delightful cocktail hour under the stars and a sumptuous buffet
dinner and desserts. Silent auctions, raffle prizes and lucky bucks were all part of the exciting festivities
and helped raised money for this worthy cause.

Dr. Francis Arena, President & Co-Founder of The SASS Foundation introduced medical oncologist and
researcher, Dr. David Page, the 2015 SASS Foundation Carol Litwin Memorial Fellow at Memorial Sloan
Kettering Cancer Center, where breast cancer research has been funded by the SASS Foundation since
2012. Dr. Page provided a brief update on his ground-breaking research that uses immunotherapy to
harness the immune system to treat and potentially cure breast cancer cells. Dr. Heather McArthur,
mentor of Dr. Page, provided the attendees with additional vital information on the revolutionary clinical
trials being carried out. Dr. Clifford Hudis, Chief of Breast Cancer Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering,
applauded Dr. Page and Dr. McArthur and thanked the SASS Foundation profusely for providing the funds
to conduct this vital research with a trial that aims to increase cure rate in women with breast cancer.

Martin D. Sass, Chairman and Co-Founder of The SASS Foundation applauded the efforts of the Tennis
Chair, Bob Litwin, and thanked Kramer Levin, Berdon LLP, Sidley Austin, KPMG, and Emerge Laboratories
for their generous support as Event Sponsor. He also thanked many others for helping to make a
difference in the Foundation’s quest to help eradicate cancer.
